4 tips to better manage your time for success
How do you define success?
Do you see it as a certain number on a paycheck? Or maybe it’s a full book of clients and success stories. For me it looks like providing a good living for my family and having enough time and energy to devote quality, intentional time to them amid my busy work schedule.
Whatever success looks like for you, how you manage your time will allow you to reach your goals and achieve that success. As you navigate your career and learn the balance of priorities, I encourage you to apply these 4 tips to help you work more efficiently and better utilize your time for the things that matter most to you.
Tips for better managing your time:
Use a calendar and create to-do lists.
If you have a clear understanding of timelines and are able to see all your tasks laid out in front of you, you are more likely to get them done in a more timely manner without letting things fall to the wayside. I have really enjoyed using Notion, Things, and Fantastical to manage my time and priorities.
Time-block your day.
I have found that giving myself strict time blocks has allowed me to be more focused on my task at hand. I will set a timer and work for 20 minutes and then give myself a quick brain break before returning to the task. Blocking off time based on priority also ensures that the most important things are getting done each day to keep you on track.
Stop procrastinating (and multitasking).
Newton’s law of motion states that an object in motion stays in motion, and the same is true when you begin a task. Remember that once you begin the things you’ve been putting off, you will be able to build momentum and keep going until it’s complete. Multitasking is also a sure way to waste time and not produce the best work. When you begin something, give it your full attention before moving on to something else.
Ask for help.
One of the easiest ways to better manage your time is by asking for help and delegating your work. If there is someone who can help you get your tasks accomplished quicker or better, allow them to help you.
We help free up your time, giving you the opportunity to allocate it to what is most important to you—whether that’s family, friends, spirituality, or even your job.
